On Tuesday, April 28, 2009, join hundreds of New Yorkers who will be traveling to Albany to help win transgender non-discrimination protections, safe schools for LGBT youth, marriage equality and more funding for our community’s health and human services needs.

Last year, more than 1100 people traveled from all across New York to make sure that our elected officials in Albany saw first hand the power and determination of our community and our allies. This year will be even bigger.  Be a part of this historic day.

Don’t worry if you’ve never lobbied a legislator. Our partners at the Empire State Pride Agenda will provide you with the training you need.  And we've got information about how to successfully lobby your legislators right here on our site!  For some of you, going to Albany means that you have to take a day off from work, and that isn’t always easy. But we won’t win this civil rights struggle unless we all come together at critical moments to show our community’s strength.

We want to make sure that everyone who wants to participate in LGBT Equality & Justice Day can do so.  Registration plus bus transportation from New York City costs $40, and includes breakfast, lunch and a snack on the bus.  Registration alone costs $15.  If you are low-income, a student, or unemployed, scholarships may be available.  Please contact us for more information.

This year we'll be organizing a TLDEF contingent to head to Albany with the larger group.  If you're heading up to Albany by bus from  New York City, we'll travel together.  If you're coming from elsewhere in the state or traveling on your own, we'll arrange for you to meet us in Albany.  We'll need you to register in two places to ensure that we know you're going with our group and that Empire State Pride Agenda has your registration, too.  The deadline to register for LGBT Equality & Justice Day is Friday, April 10, 2009
