Protesting Discrimination

On October 16th, 2007, TLDEF and the Queer Justice League organized a demonstration in support of Khadijah Farmer and against homophobia, transphobia and sexism.  The demonstration was held in front of the Caliente Cab Company.  More than 50 people attended, with significant media coverage.

On June 24, 2007, after New York City's LGBT Pride March, Khadijah Farmer, a lesbian, went to Caliente Cab Company Restaurant in the heart of New York City's historically-gay Greenwich Village.  When Khadijah used the women's restroom, Caliente's male bouncer burst in and threw her out of the restaurant because he thought she looked too masculine to be in the women's restroom.  TLDEF filed suit against Caliente and is currently representing Khadijah.
