TLDEF depends on donations from generous individuals like you to continue its cutting-edge civil rights work. Please make a donation to TLDEF today to help us transform the legal landscape for transgender people.
Your donations support our legal program, which brings cutting edge cases seeking to expand transgender civil rights; the Name Change Project, which provides free legal name changes through our partnerships with lawyers in private practice; and the Transgender Health Initiative of New York, our first-of-its-kind community organizing project focused on improving access to health care for transgender people.
All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. TLDEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
To donate, you may mail a check payable to "Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund" to TLDEF, 20 West 20th Street, Suite 705, New York, New York 10011. Or you may donate online using your credit card through NY Charities. Online donations are fast and easy and NY Charities' servers are secure. When you donate online, you'll receive an electronic receipt for tax purposes.
Gifts of Stock
A gift of appreciated stocks or bonds is a simple and tax-effective way to support TLDEF. You’ll receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of a gift of appreciated securities held longer than one year.
Stock held at a brokerage account can be delivered electronically through the Depository Trust Company (DTC) program. It's secure and easy. Contact us and we'll give you our broker's DTC number and TLDEF's brokerage account number. Your broker will need this information, and will have you fill out certain forms to complete the transaction. This type of transfer can usually be done within 24 hours of the request being submitted to DTC.
If you don’t have a brokerage account, and wish to transfer paper stock certificates, please contact us for assistance. Also, if you’re interested in donating mutual funds to TLDEF, please contact us for assistance, as that cannot be done through the DTC program.
Thank you for supporting TLDEF and transgender equal rights.
