Justin Bond Raises Funds for Transgender Advocacy Organization
Legendary Performer Will Take Part in a Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund Benefit on Sunday
NEW YORK - As President Barack Obama continues to make significant overtures to the LGBT community, legendary performer Justin Bond will take the stage at (le) poisson rouge this Sunday, Jan. 25, to raise funds for the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF).
“We are ecstatic Justin Bond has graciously agreed to perform in a benefit for us on Sunday,” TLDEF executive director Michael Silverman said. “Justin has a long history of supporting a variety of LGBT causes. And we are thrilled to have his support.”
Formerly part of the duo Kiki and Herb, Tony-nominated Bond has appeared in “Shortbus” and other films. He is currently performing “Justin Bond Rites: More Songs for the Neo-Pagan Revolution.”
The show begins at 9 p.m. at (le) poisson rouge (158 Bleecker St. between Thompson and Sullivan Streets). Tickets cost $100 and are available at www.transgenderlegal.org.
