Transgender Rights Group To Celebrate 8th Anniversary

Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund Benefit Will Feature Lance Bass, Coy Mathis, David Mixner, BNP Paribas, and Dr. Marci Bowers

WHAT: The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) will hold its eighth anniversary benefit.

WHEN: Monday, June 3, 2013, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

WHERE: Art Directors Club Gallery, 106 West 29th Street, New York, New York

WHO:    Lance Bass, musical artist, producer, and gay rights activist; Coy Mathis and family, plaintiffs in a civil rights Complaint alleging school-based anti-transgender discrimination; BNP Paribas, honored for its leadership in corporate social responsibility; David Mixner, activist and author; Dr. Marci L. Bowers, leading expert in transgender healthcare; Laverne Cox, writer, producer, and actress.

WHY: “Transgender rights are the new frontier in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights movement.  We are thrilled to honor BNP Paribas, Dr. Marci L. Bowers, and David Mixner for their service to the LGBT community,” said TLDEF Executive Director Michael Silverman. “We are honored to have Lance Bass and the Mathis family with us as we celebrate the growth of the movement for transgender rights.”
