Ezra Cukor, Senior Staff Attorney

Ezra Cukor (he / him / his or they / them / theirs) is a senior staff attorney who joined TLDEF with a background enforcing and expanding civil rights protections particularly for transgender and LGB people. Previously, as a staff and then supervising attorney at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, Ezra secured redress for transgender and cisgender New Yorkers who faced discrimination in employment, housing, institutional settings, and other public places. While at the LGBTQ Law Project at New York Legal Assistance Group, Ezra represented low-income LGBTQ New Yorkers in a wide variety of employment, housing, and name change matters. He won a notable appellate decision establishing that undocumented immigrants who reside in New York City can obtain a court ordered name change. While at the Center for Reproductive Rights, he litigated cases to protect and expand access to abortion. In 2018, the National LGBT Bar Association recognized Ezra as one of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40. Ezra is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Wesleyan University.
